Hi, I’m Matt Jukes. I’m from Bristol.

The main topics of this blog are how education and public sector organisations are coping with this new social web world and how the social web and movements like Barcamps are disrupting the world of conferences and events.

I am currently working at JISC as a Technical Programme Manager.

Most recently I was working for Becta and before that Jiva Technology, a startup in Bristol that is building a suite of learning focused web applications.

I previously held various roles at JISC over the course of almost 5 years and have also worked for both the ESRC and HEFCE in a variety of web related roles.

I was also the main organiser for the Bettr Unconference for people interested in education web start-ups.

I am frequently on Twitter – and also have a Tumblr tumblog at where I bookmark any links that I find interesting. I also blog at Quiet Night In about comics, TV and movies.
