The short version

BackPass does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We only store what the site needs to work: keeping you signed in, remembering light or dark mode, and remembering tickets in your basket. Because of this, we do not show a cookie banner.

What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. Websites can also save information in your browser in similar ways, such as “local storage”. The law treats all of these the same way, so this notice covers them all.

Website statistics

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand how many people visit our pages and how fast they load. These tools do not set cookies, do not follow you across other websites, and do not identify you. We only use the results to improve BackPass.

How to opt out: turn on “Global Privacy Control” or “Do Not Track” in your browser settings. When your browser sends either signal, we don’t load these tools and your visit isn’t counted.

Maps

Some pages show a map of partner venues. The map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address so it can send the images to your browser. OpenStreetMap does not set cookies through our site.

Why we don’t ask for consent

UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, as changed by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025) says websites don’t need your consent for:

  • storage that is strictly necessary for a service you asked for, such as staying signed in or keeping your basket;
  • remembering how you want the site to look;
  • collecting statistics to improve the website, as long as you are told about it and can easily opt out.

Everything we use falls into these groups. If we ever add something that needs your consent, we will ask you first.

Controlling cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in cookie, you won’t be able to use the portal.
